Challenging times call for deliberate care after yourself
In the aftermath of LA fires, many have found themselves needing space to process the weight of both personal and collective impact; I am not an exclusion to that. Tragedies of this scale generate a powerful emotional atmosphere—grief, fear, anger, confusion—that saturates our shared energetic field and affects us all, whether directly or indirectly. It’s common to experience a sense of hopelessness, emotional numbness, or the urge to withdraw as a way to cope with overwhelming pain.
In such times, tending to our spiritual and emotional hygiene becomes not a luxury, but a necessity—an act of essential care that helps restore a sense of inner steadiness and supports our ability to be present for others.
Practices such as daily prayer, grounding movement, connecting with moments of joy, or quiet reflection can help restore clarity and strength. These practices are part of a wide spectrum of resources—spiritual, somatic, intellectual, creative, and relational—that help regulate the nervous system and create a felt sense of normalcy amid disruption.
Just as collective trauma can ripple through our shared field, so too can collective grounding, care, and hope. What supports your spiritual and emotional hygiene during difficult times?
